Student looks to raise STD awareness

From the moment that I knew I was going to have the opportunity to gain some work experience during my second year of CMC, I was thinking about what I might like to do. I had done an advertising campaign about raising awareness for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, as part of my Health and Social Care ALevel. When this opportunity arose I decided to look up Health Awareness within Coventry. I found out that the council has a budget and a department to cover promotions within the community. I was given the contact details for Mr Chris Boyce, the Marketing Co-ordinator for Coventry City Council. The first thing I did was contact him by telephone and introduce myself. We had a conversation about the specific areas in promotions that I would like to gain experience in. I mentioned that I had enjoyed some time working in health promotions, and he handed over some contact details which as of yet I have not had a reply from. However Chris Boyce kindly got back to me and confirmed my placement starting on the 16th April. I am hoping that from it I can gain a lot more knowledge on promotion as a career, and decide whether or not it is something that I would enjoy doing. I hope I will have gained some invaluable experience, and some contacts that may help when applying for jobs in the future.
