Jane Treays puts her success down to the fact that she is drawn towards “hidden societies”, and those with extraordinary lives. Pointing out that we now have access to television programming 24/7 Jane says that “everything has been done”. Therefore she is always looking for new angles to explore. Her ideas come from a line in a newspaper or a chance encounter. Her latest project “A Child’s Life”, a trilogy of films that started 29th Jan, with the story of the Primordial Dwarves. This programme gained an audience of 4.5 million. Jane belives this large audience share is due to the fact that the public are just as curious about these hidden societies as she is. Jane is also behind the documentary “Painted Babies” about the Beauty Pageants in America. The film was made 11 years ago, and Jane is planning on going back to America to interview the girls involved now they are 17. Jane believes that you should talk to everybody you meet, find out their stories, read novels and newspapers and listen to Radio 4. The last of the trilogy “Why did Dad choose to die?” airs on Channel 4 on 12th February
