Martin Lambie Nairn is the identity man. His logos brand the BBC, BBC News, BBC Two, BBC Three, CBeebies, Reuters, 02 and Channel Four and that’s just in Britain. MLN invented the idea of corporate on screen branding with his seminal work-the 4 for Channel Four. A quarter of a Century later it is still in use; one of the most recognizable logos in Britain if not the World. Martin takes the essence of a TV Channel or brand and distils it into a digit or graphic which will then have mass understanding, appeal and longevity. MLN is now seen as the leading light of Graphic Design in the UK more than three decades after first starting at London Weekend Television. He is also credited with having the original idea for the long running ITV Puppet Political satire Programme ‘Spitting Image’.
