Jaskirt works as a freelance photographer and journalist, including work for BBC Asian Network and BBC Birmingham. She specialises in portraiture and telling stories through her images and bodies of work, such as the Bearwood Series which focuses on what ties people to place and in a broader sense whether the notion of community still exists.

Jaskirt’s passion for photography and visual media has led to her being commissioned to cover a number of live music events for national radio station BBC Asian Network, including Paradise Gardens and Glastonbury 2007. She also made a Stop Motion video for BBC Asian Network’s Friction, the 2007 Sony Gold Specialist Music award winning show. This is the first stop motion film to be made for BBC radio online.

Photographically she has received a lot of success thus far, having won the Photo Imaging Council Award for a body of work on Women’s Football, which was published in the British Journal of Photography, Times of India and BBC online. Her award also included an exhibition at 2007’s Focus on Imaging exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC, and she has had three other exhibitions on the same work at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, Redditch United and the Glasshouse Gallery in Coventry.

Jaskirt has also been very successful in getting sponsorship from Fuji Film for her Degree show as well as previously being rewarded a grant from the Photo Imaging Council as part of her award.
