The Sounds of Anger

‘The Sounds of Anger’ is a short essay film based on the punk era and the question ‘Was punk quashed before its time by commodification?’ The film uses punk images and music as well as subtitles to explore this issue.
Essay film is a genre that is not often recognised or understood. The concept is avant-garde, and the format is very post modern. The viewer might find themselves taken aback whilst watching this piece, however, the messages and thoughts will stick with the viewer and make them re-consider their views of the punks.
During my time in university, I have specialised in the medium of photography. In this medium I’ve created bodies of work looking into; Identity and what the items people hold dear say about them, Roads from city to country, and the city at night. I have also taken a vast amount of musical performance photography and studio work. I’ve developed my Photoshop skills throughout these three years and I feel more than competent on the program, able to enhance images and create artistic touches where necessary.
I have also organised such events as a photography exhibition exploring the dangers of binge drinking projected on the walls of the Cathedral ruins, as well as several nights at the union on behalf of the student’s union radio station, Source Radio, which I have managed for 2 years.
I have developed a great passion for the theoretical side of media and communication. PR and Advertising have been particularly interesting. ‘Film studies’ has become a favourite subject for me, and I am contemplating taking on a masters course in the subject in a year or so.
I hope to explore my Photoshop skills on a professional level; in the meantime, I would like to pursue a career in PR and events management.
