Channel Four is twenty five in November 2007. The department of Media & Communication organised a high profile, packed with people and ideas, Channel Four Day to analyse and celebrate it’s birthday. On October 4th in the Ellen Terry Building.
The attendees numbered over 250 from the department, the University, the town and many local schools and colleges. There were packed houses to hear some of the stars of ‘the Channel’-Jon Snow in the morning on his and Channel Four News’ journalism (both in healthy shape), Sir Jeremy Isaacs in the afternoon on his original driving vision for the Channel a quarter of a century ago: Kevin Lygo, the current Channel 4 Director of Channels and Content on the vision of the Channel today.
In between two former senior C4 executives Steve Hewlett-Director of Factual programming and Mike Bolland-Director of Entertainment talked on the Channel then and now and Maggie Brown ,the doyenne of the British media corrs about her ‘official’ BFI biography of Channel Four published in November.
