The CeMAP applied research centre provides a context, focus and structure for the development of research, scholarship and practice in specific areas of the School’s work namely, the creative and performing arts, media, art practice and communication.
In terms of arts practice and scholarship, it provides the space needed for different art forms to come together, locating arts activities, their context and their relationship to audiences within a coherent centre.In the area of performance, CeMAP gives a focus for interaction and collaboration with the local community, with professional artists and arts organization, and with relevant funding and umbrella organizations.In the area of media, communication and culture, the CeMAP provides an environment which encourages interdisciplinary research and practice which, amongst other things, looks at the theory-practice continuum, and which takes a broad and inclusive view of the culture industries.
CeMAP aims to provide a forum, a focus, a structure and an identity for research, practice and scholarship and to promote these activities in the media, arts and performance domains in order to become a recognised centre of excellence within the broader arts and culture field.
As well as undertaking major research projects, the centre also provides consultancy in a number of areas related to our research.
